Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce ourselves, I'm Caitlyn and my fiance is Chase. We have one husky named Akira and also what we call a Shelkimo (a sheltie and American Eskimo cross) named Aries. We have a horse, a lion lop rabbit, and a bearded dragon as well. We're from Northern Indiana. To tell you a little about our husky, she's really just a big goofy baby. If you look at our avatar picture that's just how she lays down most the time. She likes to twist her spine for some reason which has landed us at the emergency vet once. She also likes to "talk". She's very vocal when she wants something. We got her as a two year old and she's about 4 now. She's always been pretty mellow and never really acted her puppy age. Akira has a ton of personality. She loves to twist herself up and lay against our couch, covering the side in her never ending shedding hair. She also does something we call her "creeper walk". She goes under the table and walks as slow as she can possibly walk without actually stopping just to brush the top of her hair on the table cloth. She does it on plants too and sometimes you can get her to "creeper walk" in place by barely touching the top of her hair and petting her. Whenever I can get a video of it I'll post it.

Chase and I have owned a variety of dogs in our lives but Kira is our first husky. Chase has always wanted a husky and I was lucky enough to be able to find one for him. We've decided that despite the hair she has shed that could clothe an entire 3rd world country, we love our husky and always want to have one. Well, that's it for now. We look forward to chatting with all of you!

They never stay where you want them to for pictures, lol. Akira likes to lay right in the way like that and she doesn't care if you step over her. She lays like that on us, too. Here she is with Chase.

Welcome! Akira is really pretty!

Whereabouts in Northern IN are you? I live in Florida but I'm up in the Chicago area visiting my parents. If you're willing to spend a couple hours in the car, we're doing a little meet up tomorrow in Urbana, IL.

Hi Caitlyn! I am in Northwest Indiana in a town called Valparaiso. My husband and I are owned by 2 huskies and 2 malamutes. We frequently scooter ours down the Calumet trail in the Dunes. Whereabouts are you?

We're from Elkhart. That would be fun taking the dogs to the dunes. Akira would love that in the snow now.

Welcome! Akira is a cutie! I think all of us here would agree that once you have a husky there is no other breed out there you would want!
