I got Siku at 6 weeks and Elara at 8 weeks and neither of them suckled. Did the vet look at her teeth? Their teeth start coming in around 5 to 6 weeks I think. My friend got a puppy and he liked to suckle on fingers and he was probably only 3 weeks old when she got him! He didn't even have teeth yet and the lady tried to tell my friend that he could eat kibble!

We picked her up the day she turned 10 weeks, and she's never displayed any suckling behavior.

@paleobones - Sky looks about the same now as yours does at 6 weeks And I totally understand about them being always on the move, Sky has started charging my camera any time I pull it out! haha

@SaraB - She definitely has teeth..... LOL. She had already started on dry food (with a little water added) when I got her, and she was perfectly able to eat that, and now she's on completely dry food.

@blueeyeghost - I love your username and thank you! All of y'alls puppy pictures are sooo cute! Sky isn't quite as fluffy haha that's the lab in her I suppose, but I can imagine the fun of a little furball exploring the house (:

Kale at 5 weeks- 5.4 pounds

Sounds like she wasn't quite weaned yet. Make sure you soak her dry puppy food with warm water so that she can eat it ok. I went through all this with Kale so I know exactly how you feel right now.

I got Diesel at 10 weeks old. I think he was about 10-12 pounds. I remind myself of my mother talking about me lying on her chest and how she remembers exactly how long I was.... I remember carrying Diesel around the moment I got him and how big he was....soo fuzzy. It was totally love at first sight with me and him.


This was the day I got him, it's a crappy cell phone picture. I was going through some stuff back then, I really wish I had more pictures of him from that day.


This was him at 22 weeks and he's still not that big. I think he was maybe around 20 lbs then. Diesel isn't really that big, he's 18 months and he hasn't gained any weight since he was about 14 months, so I don't think he'll get much bigger. He only weighs 45lbs right now. I like him smaller.

This is really great and helps a lot with my idea of how old Sky really is! Keep em coming it's a great excuse to show off your puppy pics
