I heard of people said that i should give my female Husky some Calcium to put some weight on her.
They tell me a Calcium pill that pregnant women get.

Should i give it to her?
Also she is 15 Kg and her bones are shown on her back.

What should i do?

Because i think its the best way so i can put some weight on her.

I am not an expert in this at all, but I have heard mixing a little yogurt or cottage cheese in the dog food to help gain weight.

I don't think added calcium is the way to go. Really should try either adding some kind of tasty, liquid fat to her dog food as suggested in your first post or look into something called satin balls. But, she's only a year, right? They can be pretty scrawny looking at that age and fill out later.

Calcium is not going to make a dog gain weight.

You might want to look up some recipes for satin balls. They are a good, and common, way to add weight.

Yes i can try it out by one thing....
If i feed her satin balls will she stop eating her own dog food?

And if i see some weight on her and stop the satin ball recipe will she also stop eating her own to eat satin balls?

Please tell cause i am interesting in trying this recipe!!

It sort of sounds like puppy is trying you up on knots. Once she puts on some weight and you transition her back to just kibble, you need to stand strong, she may well go on a food strike, you just have to remember you are the boss (and I am not talking as in alpha way).

Just an after thought - you are in Cyprus... is that hot now? Ami doesn't eat a lot in the heat so that may be a factor.

I know i have to stay strong and tell am the boss. Its like right now i sit next to her and when she stops eating i say to her >eat your food<(in Cypriot)

Like now its not hot.Like in May it starts to get hot until September.
Zara didn't eat much in the summer she ate like 1 cup a day.
But last year this month she ate 2 cups a day,

Also, I think sitting beside her and telling her to eat is futile... sort of like my neighbor who stands outside at midnight, hollering "go potty,go potty, now Rolling Eyes  )

I would just put the food out, leave her to it for 15-30 minutes than take it away.  No treats or people food until her next scheduled meal.  Your anxiety around her eating habits is probably effecting her to some extent.  She may just going to be a skinny husky.  Like some people are lean.  Some not.  (My 6'1") son who weighs 150 pounds and 7% body fat affraid  )

Is your vet concerned about her weight?

I am not sure where the advice about adding calcium to gain weight came from, but that is very very bad advice. Too much calcium will bind zinc and can cause serious problems. Dogs need the correct calcium:phosphorus ratio for correct growth.

Satin balls are certainly an option that can add rapid weight - obviously you need to be careful in monitoring the weight.

I personally would add raw lamb flaps, with a little extra meat to balance the bone content. They are bone, fat and meat. You also get the added bonus of cleaning the teeth.

Or you can add some of a cheaper beef mince (cheaper normally equates to more fat), you can then gently bake some egg shells to dry them out and grind into a powder, add around a 1/3 teaspoon of powder to a handful of the mince to balance the phosphorus from the meat. I don't subscribe to the no mixing raw and kibble theory - as long as your dog tolerates it and that the meat is supplied in a balanced manner (contains some bone, shell or bone meal)

You can add a whole raw egg every second day to a meal - shell and all. The shell is needed to balance the potential depletion of biotin. If you can't get you dog to eat the shell then you need to use ground shell powder with the raw egg.

It should be noted that some dogs are more sensitive than others, so whatever way you decide to go, start very gradually.

Another thing i didn't mention its that in September last year i went to semester and i left Zara in a Dog Hotel for 1 month. That time Zara was great with her weight.
When i came back they told me she ate just fine but i saw her very skinny and i felt sad for her...

The question is it might affected her there when i left her in the Dog Hotel alone.
Because when i go to the kiosk for like 5 minutes and i come back she jumps like crazy of joy , barks and gives me her hands.

I think it might be there the problem also that i left her alone because she loves us so much. She has only me and my boyfriend.I have her in my boyfriends bedroom but i let her go around the house if we are around.

So what do you think of this?Is this the other problem that she might not eat much or not?

And the vet does not concern about her weight...

I suspect she lost weight at the dog hotel because maybe she was playing with other dogs and more active?

I wonder if your guilt at leaving her alone is effecting how you approach feeding her.

At 16 kilos, she probably only needs 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food, twice a day ( that is 8 oz American measure cups )
