There is someone in Tucson that monitors the Craigslist boards here and anytime they see someone post a pup for "free" they post a warning saying that by submitting a "Free Dog" ad the person is opening themselves up to the dog being taken as a "bait" dog to bad people who will use them in fights, or to breed. In the post there is always a warning that "even the nicest looking people can have evil intentions" and they say that asking a small rehoming fee will often scare them a way.

I can't say for sure how true it is or not, I just know that it is worth asking for a rehoming fee if it will help screen away some of the scum suckers!

This is why I troll craigslist and alert the rescues.

I love how they put "ready to roam" and that he's not neutered in case of breeding. Idiots like this shouldn't own dogs.

My parents had contacted someone on CL concerning the loss of their English Bulldog a few years back. They (my parents) had an older male Boston Terrier that was ready to retire, and be an only dog. These people came, sat in my parents living room, told them this horrid sob story about how their beloved family pet had been killed. We felt horrible for them, their kids even played along with the story! The deal was if the people couldn't keep "Bo" they were to return him to us, no questions asked. My mom called them like two weeks after they had taken him home to make sure everything was going well. Never heard from them. A month after that phone call we found him on Craigslist in a Boston Terrier Rescue with the excuse that, "owners had surrendered due to allergies." My mom was heart broken. We had contacted the Boston Terrier Rescue but he had already been pulled in by a caring family. Just disgusting the lies that people will tell.

I hope that beautiful white husky finds a new home. If he were near us I would bring him home in a heartbeat. Poor boy

So sad ... poor baby look's like he's not taken care of, his nails are all grown out.
