Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Paisley has had a few episodes in the past of what sounds like reverse sneezing? Tonight it happened twice in a row both lasting about 30 seconds I pet her and calmed her but Ive never experienced them close together like that? I was wondering of anyone else had the same issues

"What to Watch For

If the revere sneezing occurs frequently (daily or several times a day) and is associated with other clinical signs, then further evaluation should be completed by your veterinarian.
Watch for other abnormal signs that may suggest a more serious problem including nasal discharge, epistaxis (bloody nose), sneezing, difficulty breathing, abnormal facial deformity over the nose area, decreased appetite and/or lethargy."

Our male Yorkie and female Dalmatian have been doing it for years. I actually had no idea what it was until I just youtube'd it and saw. The Dalmatian does it mainly on walks and then calms down and the Yorkie does it all the time lol. We've never had any issues with it. I'm not sure if there is any harm that could come out of it, but our's have been doing it for over 8 year's and no issues. Smile

My boyfriends mom is a vet and they said it's not a big deal, unless of course you're dog is showing sign's like the person above mentioned Smile

I wouldn't be too scared about it. When I put Fen on antihistamines, he was doing it as often as four times in ten minutes.

When Kemba was a puppy, she would continually have fits of reverse sneezing. Ever since we switched her to grain free food it stopped - we think it was an allergic reaction to the grains in her food.

Mikko has had several instances. It's scary because it's like they are having trouble breathing. I too videoed it and showed his vet. He told me it was no big deal and if he had multiple occurrences in a day to give him benadryl.

Phantom gets it rarely/occasionally, usually only lasts a few seconds. Last night she woke me up around 3AM doing it and lasted like 5 minutes straight. I *know* it's not a big deal but it does sound scary.
