I have had timber now for a week. He is finally eating all his food, peeing outside, and has learned who's boss. Only problem.. he doesnt poop. He eats about 1 1/2 cups a day (but working his way up. He was scared at first to eat) and has water always available. He will only poop if we are at the dog park. And that's only once a day. I'm worried that he's not popping enough. Timber has a vet appointment on Monday because we just got him and I want to make sure I found the right vet and give timber a full check up. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. If it even is a problem.

Dakota only poos once a day as well and it's usually after he has his dinner. I think it's normal for them to go once or twice a day. I wouldn't start to worry unless it's been more than 48 hours since his last poo.

with only 1.5 cups of food a day to pass thats not much so i would say one poop a day is fine. ours goes once or twice a day depending. mostly in the morning and at night. if he is not pooing at all for a few days then i would think blockage. if you do plan on upping his food you might see more poop, unless you are trying to take off weight then i would not increase the food unless your vet says something.

Usually if there is some sort of blockage they will eventually refuse to eat. I would say one poo a day is very normal. He probably prefers the dog park so he can leave his mark.

LOL, Snow goes about 3-4 times a day. I'm starting to think she's eating too much. She gets 2-3 meals a day, each 1 cup.

Timber sounds fine, all my dogs poop only once a day as well. Those with puppies will see more BM's due to the fact that puppies require more food than adults. It's a simple correlation, what goes in must come out. Also those feeding a higher quality diet will see fewer BM's than those feeding lower quality as better food means higher digestibilty and therefore more of the food is utilized by the body rather than passed right through.
