Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

HI!

We are currently in the process of adopting a beautiful 2 year old Husky named Carolina We are first time husky owners, but have both owned dogs in the past. So any helpful tips (especially training and grooming) will be helpful!

We actually received news yesterday that our Carolina is expecting a litter this week, so the process has been halted until the end of August.

Well some back ground intel would be nice. What experiences do you have with dogs? any with this breed? What made you choose her?

Kudos on adopting an older dog!

Thanks All! Smile

We have me her once so far. We were in the process of setting up a time to get a home visit done when we found out the good news. Her foster mom is very nice and we plan on going to see her at least one more time before we bring her home.

Sadly, we didn't take any pictures the first time we meet her, but below are pictures used in her listing, courtesy of MUSHR, the rescue group.

My tips though some need not apply lol. Diego can/does the following on a regular basis:

hit the light switch on/off (the opposite of whatever it needs to be at the moment lmao)
lock me out of my car even if the windows are down (i guess he thinks it's funny)
chase the cat but snuggle with her immediately upon cornering her
walk over to my garbage can (stainless steel tall one with step to open lid) and pounce on the step so it opens/closes for about ten minutes straight and makes a little clank sound when it closes
carries mail/newspaper in for me
hits elevator up/down button on command (we live in an apartment building in the city)

huskies are amazing but exhausting. I hear they get very destructive if not well exercised but fortunately I work from home and have two awesome dog parks within a block away and we go running every morning for a few miles on the lake and hit the park 2-3 times a day and it does the trick!

good luck she's adorable!
