Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. PostSubject: Update on Bob   Sun Aug 05, 2012 9:38 am

Hi I had posted here awhile ago regarding Bob's FHO. I went to a different Vet for a second opinion yesterday. I just could not put that cap under his good foot to force him to use the bad leg. The vet immediately asked what meds he was on and I told him none the other vet did not want him to be dependent on tramadal so after the operation he only had 4 days of pain meds. He immediately took him in the back for xrays which surprised me as usually they say being him back and leave him. However this vet seemed thoroughly concerned about Bob. He looked at the copies of the xrays from before the operation and said yes he did need to have the fho done but he should have been put on pain meds because of the trauma. After the xrays he said the muscles need to be relaxed he can see they are contracting, he needs pain meds tramadal and anti inflammatory med. Bring him back next saturday and start the meds immediately. He did say the operation on his hip looks good its just now a matter of getting him to trust the leg. No letting off the leash do th short leash because he will over do it and keep up the therapy which is once a week. He did say Bob should be using that leg more but has now associated pain when the leg is down and he feels this is the reason he has not progressed as much as he should have been. Thanks for listening.

Well thank god you went for a second opinion! I was surprised when I read he only had 4 days of pain meds, I mean Balon had 5 days of pain meds for a neutering!

Hopefully with no pain he can begin to trust his leg again, I wish you all the luck!
