Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

If any of you feed Merrick, I came across this when researching for a raw blog I write. Be careful. It is not beign recalled or publicized Smile

We do feed Merrick! Thanks for the heads-up! It would be nice to hear the Merrick was more concerned, however, with the onslaught of hoaxes like human fingers found in fast food and whatnot, I can also see why they would dismiss this.

When you've lived awhile, you get to see a lot. We have found a black beetle in a blueberry vogurt cup and a metal shard in a box of cereal once. That's all I can think of right now.

My biggest concern is that these nails do not look like something that would fall off of a machine or something that has actually gone through the processing. That means that if the accuser did not add them to their dog's food, then someone at the company in the packing area might have. In other words, this just doesn't seem to be an accident...

Hope it's nothing...

Scary! I don't feed Merrick, but it was my first choice until I came to this forum.

A few years ago, I read a story about people finding cheese cubes that had nails stuck in them at dog parks! It could have been a hoax, but I saw pictures. Ever since I read that, I always closely watch what my pup is doing at the park and the people that walk in there.

I don't mean to scare anyone, but I would pay more attention. People these days... Nails in Merrick Dog Food 85993

Well, being the person I am, I took it upon myself to call them.

I asked and got put on hold for quite some time. I am assuming its due to the customer service associate having NO IDEA what I was talking about.

Now, I'm waiting for a call back from the manager because the associate said: "I'm not advised to speak on the matter, I will have my manager call you back when she is off the other line."
