Hi, there - I'm new to the forum, so my apologies if I'm not posting something correctly.

I picked a beautiful new puppy, Harry, yesterday.

He's an 8 week old, male, and he's awesome Smile

I had a husky before him, though I got her when she wasn't so young. I don't remember any issues with tail fur, but here's what his looks like:

It's just that the last inch or two don't have the "puffyness" of the tail. It feels strong, and he doesn't chew on it or anything -- but the fur definitely isn't there in full at the end. I feel like at 8 weeks, all the fur should be there?

perhaps one of the other pups in his litter fought with him? or could it be some kind of early skin condition?

Let me know if you have any ideas.

(and sorry about the dropbox links, the image uploader was giving me issues)

I'm not 100% sure but the tail looks normal to me. I don't think the tip is going to be as fluffy as the rest of the tail. He's a cutie for sure!

Maybe that was a bad picture -- it definitely doesn't look normal to me, but I've had him for 1 day, so who knows what could have caused it.

it may be a skin thing, he may simply be bald there, the fur may not have grown in there yet, or he may have just been in a fight with one of his siblings.

Here's a better picture:

And I think the image uploaded this time Smile

Looks like some one shaved his tail. Maybe he got something on it and shaving was easier than cleaning it?

You're probably right -- he wasn't in the cleanest conditions, and I would've noticed it when I first saw him.

The farm owner cleaned him up before I took him, and there's a good chance she just shaved whatever was on his tail instead of cleaning him. I'll give her a call to ask.

That definitely makes the most sense though, as he seems perfectly healthy/happy, and isn't paying any attention to his tail.

With our last husky, the skin problems really didn't start until she was about 8 years old.

And we've got name twins Smile (Harry)

Yes, that is not a normal husky puppy tail and I agree, it looks like its been shaved. I don't think a normal puppy scuffle would cause that much hair to come off and it wouldn't be so neat and tidy. What an odd thing to do. Hopefully it will come back normally. Welcome! Smile
