So I was looking for a brush to have to brush my pup and Ive read a furminator was the best thing to have, and I was wondering if I should go ahead and get one or wait and buy something else (that is cheaper) that might work just as good,

Suggestions?

There are a bunch of threads about the furminator.. Some people are against them cause they can damage the coat.. I plan on using furmintor only once a week or every other week.. But i will use a different brush for everyday.. And down the road ill buy a hifh velocity dryer

I like mine...alright? It's handy when she's blowing her coat, but doesn't do much more than a regular brush and undercoat rake for just normal shedding. That's been my experience anyway; she doesn't have a super thick coat though.

If you do decide to buy on, whatever you do, don't buy a Furminator in a store. They're on Amazon for hilariously cheap prices compared to what they are in store. Also, I'd wait and keep an eye out for the listings on Amazon. I got mine, from Furminator on Amazon for $12 back in September. You're pup won't blow its coat for a few months anyway, so you should be able to shop around. Also, there's a version with a button to kind of push the hair off of it and a version that doesn't have the button. I feel like the button doesn't really do anything, and the one without the button is a tad cheaper.

Slicker and a greyhound comb are my go-to brushes. I have a furminator, but never use it.

I have one that I use for Maya and Sophie when they're blowing their coats. Their fur is shorter and slicker so it doesn't rip their coat. Kay's fur is longer and rougher so I use a undercoat rake, regular brush, slicker brush, and a rubber glove thing for her. I also have a shedding blade that I use on them occasionally too.

I have one with a vacuum attachment, I used to love it, but this blowing season it hasnt wowed me like before not to mention that it thinned the sides of her head too much. So I stopped, someone recommended a rake thingy so Ill give that a go since I dont like slicker brushes and neither does shiva. Dont get me wrong, normally I do it once a week and it has helped cut down the shedding by alot, but shes not a hairy dog nor fluffy like the other huskies. So the comment that its takes the guard hair as well that some members have said might be true, considering she was pretty black, and now her body is a dark gray kinda now. I dont furm her head and its pretty black.

Over all, Id say research the grooming forum for alternatives and then decide which tool to go with. This was my experience with the furm.

I feel like I'm missing sometime with these dogs and all the shedding, or maybe I'm lucky, but I think I might brush my dogs once every 3 months.....And they get groomed usually 3 times a year....
