| So I've decided to do some reading over Christmas break, since during the semester I never have time to do personal reading. I went out and got a few books today, two out of the three husky related. I went purposely searching for Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod by Gary Paulsen. I also happened to stumble upon An Echo Through the Snow at the store. It looked really interesting, so I started it already. So far, so good.
As a kid, I got my hands on every wolf/husky story I could find. The ones that stand out in my mind are Sascha My Friend and The Baree books.
Then there's the obvious Call of the Wild, White Fang, etc...What are some of your favorite/most memorable dog books? They don't have to be husky related, but that's always a plus! |

We read Where the Red Fern Grows in elementary school. That books makes me bawl like a baby every time. So did Marley and Me and also The Art of Racing in the Rain. I don't know why I do it to myself. I guess everyone needs a good cry every now and then. |

| A Dog's Purpose and the sequel A Dog's Journey.
Both are must reads for dog lovers/owners everywhere. A dog's purpose especially will make you laugh, cry, and keep stopping to hug your dog. They were both very touching books written through the eyes of a dog. These books make me wonder especially since Frankie found me. |

| Now that I have a Kindle...let me just mention a few GREAT dog books that I've read. They are unlike anything that I've read before.
- A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron - A Dog's Journey by W. Bruce Cameron - The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein - Thor by Wayne Smith
And obviously anything by Jack London. |

| Currently I'm reading: - The Hidden Life of Wolves by Jim and Jamie Dutcher (hopefully you've watched their highly recommended Living with Wolves documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwPmKVVH6JE) - How the Dog Became the Dog [From Wolves to Our Best Friends] by Mark Derr - The Wolf [Ghost Hunter] by Daniel Leboeuf And I've ordered and should be receiving this week or next: - The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic by Gay Salisbury (the origin story that inspired the Iditarod) - The German Shepherd Dog in Word and Picture by Max von Stephanitz (Founder of the GSD breed) - Reflections from the Dog House by E. Lewis Phillips (a history of the GSD and other general info on the breed) |

| Loved The Art of Racing in the Rain. Had me bawling from the start. I had heard they were going to do a movie of it, but I guess it never happened. |
