Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Koda's grandparents are from them Smile I want to get my next two from them or where Megan is getting her next. 2 years away until that happens, though!

I would certainly like a Karnovanda dog, but I'm still holding out fingers crossed I hear back from a breeder I contacted a few days ago on potential dual purpose dogs.

I read that originally as I'm holding out for a backyard breeder and got confused, haha.

I saw them when I was looking for Anakin and decided I didn't want to go with them. That and the fact that they think reds aren't desirable.

In HHH's defense, (I don't know why I'm defending them) I don't think the Merle is theirs. If it is, I don't think they use it as a breeding dog. I know Merle's are a red flag when it comes to question of purebred or not and I never saw any Merle's in their list of breeding males/females. I could have missed it though. Haha.

They do use it as a breeding dog - they have a merele puppy just produced out of the bitch.

The Merle is registered as a 'Pi' to make it seem legit. But one look at the photo and you can see what it is.

Merle is not an acceptable nor possible color in a purebred Siberian, since Siberians do not carry the Merle gene. Merle was introduced to the Siberian line through (most likely) Australian Shepherds or any other herding breed that does carry the Merle gene.

Ok now that homework is done I can finally focus on fully paragraphs. I looked at both of those sites and found many things I didn't like that would be really easy to miss for some people.I didn't even know back at the time that merle huskies were not able to be pure and had a lot of possible defects. My mom brought it to my attention that they seemed odd and that I should do some research and low and behold I got a lot of info that wasn't something you want in a dog. At the time the hells hallows huskies didn't have any Merle's advertised on their page but they really seemed to not be the breeder for me due to the fact that they seemed to be breeding for coat color at the time. And they found reds undesirable, at least ones like the sire gremlin which my pup Anakin has a similar coat color to.

Edit: I was having a convo about merle puppies earlier about how cute they can be, but how I couldn't bring myself to get one from anything other than a rescue. I wouldn't want to put money into the hands of a breeder and inspire them to keep breeding more of them no matter how cute they can be.

Dominique, just to clarify, (you might be speaking about huskies specifically) merle is plenty acceptable in other dog breeds such as the Australian shepherd.

If you go to their Available Adults page they have puppies on there from a litter that Merle's came out of Aussie bloodlines that they claim they just realized and are discontinuing the line. Sounds fishy.

In reference to the Mysiberianhusky; on their facebook page I posted the SCHA article about how merle huskies are NOT purebred and ARE NOT to be bred. They just deleted it as soon as I posted it. I also asked them about health testing and they have blatently ignored every single question I ask them. But they still sell their puppies so fast it seems like.. People can be so easily tricked into thinking a breeder is a good breeder when all they take into account is a facebook page and a website. UGH!

Also a little off topic, but I had read somewhere that Wooly huskies were also not to be bred because their coat is obviously not "ideal". Is that correct?

Breeders should not be intentionally producing woollies. A dog accidentally being produced that is a wooly is one thing, but intentionally breeding a wooly in hopes of more or for whatever reason is not looked well upon.
