Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. doggie life jacket? Empty
PostSubject: doggie life jacket?    doggie life jacket? EmptyWed Jan 23, 2013 11:10 pm

I posted this yesterday but have yet to hear any feedback so I'm not sure if I put it where it belongs or not but, we have a new and exiting change coming up. I will be moving from the north where it snows, to the south with the sand. I plan on bringing my husky with me and I'm a little concerned with the heat- but he loves water, so I'm sure we'll be fine. I plan to attempt kayaking with him, and my brother who we will be living with has a boat- so I hope to take him boating as well. He pretty much goes anywhere I do Having said that- does anyone have any suggestions on Doggie PFDs? I have looked at several online- including one from ruff wear but I'm concerned the straps underneath won't hold to allow me to pull him out of the water. He's weighing in at about 70 pounds right now. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I don't want to buy something that is only going to last 6 months, ya know? Any suggestions and personal experiences would be greatly appreciated And I thank you all in advance!

Don't get the one at Petco. That's the only tip I can give.
It made out old GSD's butt float and almost put her head underwater. The size under it was to small and the size above it was WAY to big.

It's weird, but I wrote an answer two hours ago and it's not here...

We have the Ruffwear one, that I used on a canoeing/backpacking trip.
It seems well-made.
I can lift Bodhi from the handle.
But he only weighs 45 lbs.
I think proper fit is key.

I think you're right! I just want one that is well designed, fits well, and does its job! Smile lol. I don't like the ones at petco with the mesh underneath because I feel like he'll break right through that in a matter of months! I do like the ruff wear one, but I'm not sure I want to pay 80 bucks for a life vest either.. ah decisions decisions Very Happy Thank you both for your input!
