Fighting or Playing between two puppies.. Help! Empty
PostSubject: Fighting or Playing between two puppies.. Help!   Fighting or Playing between two puppies.. Help! EmptySun Jan 27, 2013 6:19 am

Hello, this is Steve.
My husky Yuki just had new friend, Boston Terrier, three days ago.
And they seem like fighting every seconds, they bit each other.. actually Yuki always starts it first.
Boston is same age as Yuki which is three months old.
And people say that they are just playing.. but I am worried because Boston started to whine(probably from painfulness) when Yuki bit her..
I understand dogs play like that, but I am worried one of them hurts the other. And weird thing is that they cannot be seperated... when I took Boston to bathroom, Yuki whines..a lot.

Please help me!

What should I do!

Well they will whine when one dog is starting to play too rough, it's their way of saying hey ease up and does not always mean pain. If you think things are getting out of hand call the dominant dog away and if the dog whining follows and is willing to iniate play things are all good.

Huskies are known for playing rough , I guess they need to be supervised especially since the your husky will soon (if not already) be double the Boston terriers size.

The Bostons Terrier probably doesn't obey because it has been such a short period of time. He hasn't had time to get comfy with you, and at that age, I doubt he came trained. Give it some time and effort.

It sounds like they're playing- and as Colin said, they will cry to let one another know they're being to rough. I used to work at a doggie daycare- when we had new people starting we would give them these instructions.. if you think two dogs are playing too rough together, grab the one that you think is causing the problems and take a step back- does his playmate follow? If so, they're probably just playing, if the playmate runs and hides then the "Culprit" you're holding may be playing a little too rough. As for the boston not listening- people often let smaller dogs get away with more because it's cute, so keep that in mind too. If they're both yours split them up to get some training sessions in seperately. If you only own the husky (or vice versa) then you have an awesome opportunity to proof your recalls! Get something he/she REALLY REALLY likes that they never get (cheese, hot dog, etc.) call them when they're playing and if they come to you reward them. If they ignore you, go up and show them you have food, take a step back and call them again- reward. You will be surprised how quickly they will get the "game" and how fast there recalls will be! Very Happy

Fighting or Playing between two puppies.. Help! Empty

I have Balon husky who is about 11 months, and Ruby Lab who is 17 months. They both play pretty rough and one or the other will sometimes cry out to let the other know it was too much. It usually stops the aggressor, but if not, I step in and pull the offender away for a time to "chill out". Husky's do play rough, but my lab has learned how from him lol.
