So Roxy has always had a slight tan color on her back but in the last couple of weeks it has really started to turn light red with some darker red patches. Thought it was pretty neat. I will try to get some pics when i get a chance. I know there coats change but do new colors appear like this?

Yup Smile Their colors can change over the course of their lifetime or seasonally. Val's Dakota (she's not an active poster anymore) is a great example of a seasonal changer. He's very light gray in the summer and goes almost black in the winter.

Hailey keeps getting new colors all the time. She's a mix of white, black, gray, red, brown... she's got everything.

After the weekend rain, Ridik's hair has been easily blown out with the shop vac on reverse. Now he's shedding black something fierce. Looks like he's going to lighten up a few shades this summer.

I don't think Sierra is going to match her tail color this year, i think she will stay a red brown, all though she is shedding right now so who knows.

Yep, and there's a thread that was started on this very topic where I posted pics of Dakota's color changes for visual effect...
Coat color changing?

Here are my posts from that thread:

My husky's coat has changed color with age and seasonally as well. He was a dark black and white when we adopted him and is now much much lighter with the only solid black remaining as a line down his back starting from his head down through his tail. Not only has his overall color changed but he changes seasonally as well, he gets darker during the summer and lighter during the winter just like Tori's Koda. This year, at 4 yrs old, he actually gained a lot of tan points in his coat that he's never had before so I am impressed to see how much is coat continues to change even at this age!

Now compare his coat when we first got him versus now and you might wonder if it's the same dog! Here's the first and last pic side by side for comparison...

Now that it is summer again my boy's coat is getting darker as it always does in the summer months. And this past winter he developed a lot more red/tan points in his coat than ever before...although they have all but disappeared again by now. He's never had much red/tan in his coat and it popped up really noticeable for a few months over this past winter. He looked great but it's all gone...maybe next winter we'll see a reappearance. Maybe by the time Dakota reaches his senior years he'll be a red husky! lol
