Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Thank you everyone! It is so great to hear other's call her copper. Smile
I think the reason it bothers me so much when people would call her brown is because those people also call her a boy. Even when I correct them they go on and on about how much of a boy she looks. But I digress. Thanks everyone for putting me at ease. Smile

I have a copper girl too. She's lighter but I still consider her copper. I've had all the normal brown comments as well and oh she's a rare husky lol. I definitely think yours is a copper too! Cally gets the boy comment as well- even when she had pink leash, collar and harness. People are crazy lol.

I understand why people assume she's a boy because she is so petite they just think she is a young male,. But after I explain she is going to be three and a girl, you'd think most people would just let it go and apologize and move on with the conversation. But nope, most people decide to argue with me over her age or her gender or discuss how much of a boy she looked to them and blah blah blah.
I can just see it now. People would go nuts over a red piebald and just have no idea what to say or what they were even talking about if they did have something to say. Haha

Same here. Pink or purple, or red or blue doesn't matter. Always assume she's a boy. I've mostly just given up on it with people. I correct them and then ignore them for the most part. Haha.

For the lighter reds it would be considered light red, not dilute.

Dilute occurs a lot with our "blue" dogs (such as some pit bulls and weims) as well as can affect the whole coloring since it is a gene.

Even cats:

Husky coat colors lighten due to the amount of white present in the coat.

Weird a lot of breeders that had been helping me with showing said that Siberians can come in dilute black and white, and dilute red. interesting.
