from what i read on here most people recommend he 42" on i believe. i have the metal crate for both of my dogs and mine are the 36", but they were given to me, and it's fine for my husky mix (39.6 pounds) and my husky right now is only about 4 months old

I'd recommend metal, as well. For size reference here is Loki (55lbs) in a 42" crate.

My 2 oldest ones both have 42" tall metal kennels, my two younger ones both have plastic kennels. It depends on what your dog prefers, or if they can escape the metal ones.

If you have the room, I'd definitely suggest the 42' one. They have plenty of room to stretch out, but if you don't have the room, a 36' will probably be fine. Since you're getting a puppy though, I'd recommend getting one with a divider.

As far as plastic vs. wire, it really depends on the dog. Some do fine in metal crates and some absolutely hate it.

Loki has a 42" metal crate. I second the divider suggestion.

My two have small crates Kerian's is 32" and Blaze's is 36". They really don't have to use them that much being someone is always home during the day and they sleep in our bedroom at night.

The other day they both walked in the smaller crate it was so funny looking I wish I had gotten a picture.
