My name is Jayla and I recently bought a three year old male copper colored husky. I am a first time husky owner and I have to say he is probably the best dog I have ever had! I am already so in love! We renamed him Mika and he is catching on quickly. lol We also just happened to get him the time that he is blowing his coat, so that a big adjustment, but worth it all the same. I have had a few questions about him since I am a first time husky owner and I want to do him right. So I decided to check out this forum. lol now if I could just figure out how to post a picture of my big guy.lol any advice welcome. Smile

Thanks so much! Ill get pics up of him as fast as my internet connect(which is pretty crappylol) will let me! BTW Your Kids are SO pretty. I need to get Mika groomed unfortunately the ppl who had him before me just did not groom him ever and its impossible for me to bathe him alone. He was also an outside dog, which I just cant believe considering this MS heat!! So I am having to potty train him as an adult..any tips? thankfully we are in the military and will be taking him with us to Alaska were we are moving in october, I have a feeling he will be VERY happy there!

A belated welcome to you! That's one happy looking sled dog you've got there. Probably thankful to be inside and cared for. Sorry I don't have much to say about adult potty training. The one dog I had to potty train just got crated for a couple of years before she finally caught on.

thanks! He is so goofy.:)I swear sometimes he is smiling! He is crate trained but we dont have one so we kind of turned our small laundry room into a big crate and he never potties as long as he is in there. I just hate it because his previous owners used a crate as punishment.Sad

Welcome, Jayla! What a handsome boy! We also have a Husky named Mika, (pronounced MEE-kah. [she's a girl]) I assume your boy's is pronounced MIKE-ah?)
As for adult potty-training, all of ours were adopted as adults. Ummm, how long is he alone during the day? One bit of advice: when feeding, split the portions to two feedings, and always make sure he goes out within a half-hour after eating. (New food in, old food out.) Same with water, although harder to regulate intake as you can't leave him without water all day! It is my experience that they do pick up on what you want them to do when given lots of praise and adoration for doing it!
Good luck and lookout for MHS (Multiple Husky Syndrome) They are so cute that having just one is difficult to maintain! Waht a lucky dog he is to have been given a home with lots of love & concern for him. And to live in Alaska! His dream come true, I'm sure..... Smile

lol thanks! and his name is also pronounced meeka.lol I believe it is a Finnish boy name but i also know its a girl name too.lol it just really fit him. lol the guy of paranormal activity is named mika pronounced meeka. Im a stay at home mom so he is never home alone much and when he is alone or at night I usually leave him in the laundry room where his bed and food are and he has never had an accident in there.lol and I already have MHS lol I want a black and white girl pup once we get to alaska!Smile
