Anyone have a Chow Hound?! Empty
PostSubject: Anyone have a Chow Hound?!    Anyone have a Chow Hound?! EmptyTue Jul 09, 2013 5:40 am

For all of you out there having problems with your huskies not eating I am sorry to post this, but my husky will not stop eating! Orion is a complete fat boy when it comes to his food I timed him tonight - a bone in chicken thigh took just over 30 seconds. He is ridiculous, during training he will literally drool while watching treats in your hand.
Since he gulp most of his food he gives himself hiccups after almost every meal is this doing him any harm? Is there a supplement or something I could give to aid his digestion to help his poor tummy out?
Also any idea'a on how to train begging & counter surfing out of him? If I am cooking he will stay out of the kitchen but as soon as I am out he is searching for anything he can get off the bench. His begging is worse than the counter surfing - he will jump on you if you sit on the couch with food etc. It is getting to the point we have to tether him or shut him out of the room if we are eating and if we do either he screams bloody murder!

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated!

Dont have anything to suggest just wanted to say I have a similiar problem and will watch your post. Bella and Jasper get pn my counters all the time and try stealing things, Bellas favorite is the butter Jasper the weirdo will drink the dirty dish water. My 3 yr old nephew has decided he has to tacle them when he sees them on the counter while yelling noooooooo dog dog! Noooo doooo it! They also take food from my nephew. If we ignore them long enough they will lay down but it takes an avaerage of 15 minutes or longer.

Mishka is the same way. We can't sit down on the couch with food or drinks because he will jump all on us. And he's also terrible with counter surfing. Thankfully I have learned to put everything all the way to the back of the counter where he can't get it but he jumps up on the counter (not full body!) at least 3-5 times a day looking for stuff and just licking the counters. I have tried making loud noises, banging pots, etc. to try to scare him off, but I usually have to tell him off and down a few times before he gets down.

When he's really bad I just lock him out of the kitchen or in the kitchen depending on where we want to eat.
