Puppy Diet Empty
PostSubject: Puppy Diet   Puppy Diet EmptyTue May 28, 2013 12:20 pm

Hello, we will be bringing home our 8 week old husky this friday, and though i feel rather ready im still unsure HOW MUCH/HOW OFTEN a puppy husky should be fed? I know they tend to eat less than other breeds but im unsure if this applies to them while puppies. So how much is best? Also, I purchased blue wilderness puppy food. Is this a good brand? Thanks alot! Very Happy

How much, is going to depend on your puppy. Break up the feedings to about 3 per day but don't go by the recommended amounts on the bag. I'm pretty sure there are other posts about this topice somewhere here on the forum, but yes Blue Wilderness is a good brand, but I believe some people have found it to be too rich for their pups. It's going to be a trial and error for a little while, but you'll get it figured out.

Good luck and can't wait to see pics! Smile

Both my husky's do well on BB Wilderness. Balon the older one gets the adult salmon, and Loki gets the puppy chicken one. At first I don't think Loki liked it much but I stuck with it and he now devours it lol.

Make sure you get a small bag of whatever the breeder has been feeding so you can do a nice transition to avoid diarrhea. We've been having a heck of a time with Shadow and finding a brand of kibble that she can tolerate. Also, overfeeding will cause excess poop and diarrhea, so keep that in mind as you work out how much to feed. Wilderness is a great food and Ghost did really well when she was on it, but the only puppy formula is chicken based and there are a lot of dogs who don't tolerate chicken products well. Take a look at all the different food threads we have in case the Wilderness doesn't work out with you guys.
