The area i live in is opening a dog park finally.. The fence is up, but its not offically open yet but your allowed to go and try it out. There is going to be a yearly membership fee though. Which i dont mind but its $110 a year! That seems really high to me. I almost have to do it cause i need a dog park close. There is one about 30 min from me with a lake for them to swim in and stuff and that one is free. This is just a fenced in area and its 110.. Wow.. Does This seem a little crazy to anyone?

It might be high but at the same time, the money has to come from somewhere and I'm sure the non dog owners are happier knowing that their taxes didn't have to pay for it. $110 for something I'd use everyday doesn't seem like too much at all.

How are they going to regulate it?

Well it works out to $9.16 a month. Which isn't that bad but still. Our park is run but volunteers and donations so it is free to the public. But I have put in my fair share of work and fundraising for the park that I know I have easily spent 100 dollars.

It does seem high, but if you break it down, it's less than $10 a month. If you're going to use it frequently, I think it would be worth it.

We have a private dog park that we go to that is $60 for 4 months (and that's the student discount!) We are not currently in a membership period simply due to the fact that it's about a 20 mile drive. The drive plus the fee make it not worth it as much, but if it were closer I wouldn't hesitate to do it.

I can see a fee for a dog park usage.,,. Our two here are free but one has lots of restrictions one being it is close on Monday and Tuesday to save wear and tear on the grass. They don't provide water buckets or bowls you have to bring your own., Right they are talking about turning the water off because the drain keeps backing up. It is a pain this dog park. The dog park was closed down for a year because they decide the grass was to warn down.

The other one is easier to deal with they don't have these new rules and the such.

Wow, that is rather costly but perhaps you get something along with the membership? I refuse to spend money to go to a dog park, I only go to those that are free even if it means going a little further and/or going less frequently...that's just me though.

Yes, who does regulate who has a membership or not? Also, do they make sure all the dogs have their shots and are up to date with everything? (I know this isn't a normal thing, but maybe if they charge, they have people check when you buy the membership) If that was the case, I wouldn't hesitate paying the fee! Our dog park here is free, and it was great at first but because no one was really regulating it, kennel cough, and a lot of other sicknesses were going around, so I just stopped going.

That does seem a little high. I personally would pay it, just because we go to the park almost everyday. I would make the 30 minute dog park my weekend park though Smile

Im assuming they will check shot records for the members. Im not sure if we get anything along with the membership. I realize its about $10 a month. But they wont let you pay monthly. Like i said most likely im going to do it i was just a little shocked. I knew there was a membership fee but didnt think it would be that high. Im kind of concerned about enough people joinig and there not be many dogs there and koda has no one to play withz. My area is a little cheap. Low cost for most things around here.

About regulating, the lady on thr phone said something about keys. So im assuming once your a member you get your own key, and the gate will be locked at all times.

There's a place near me that has a astronomically high annual fee, but they do temperament testing before you're allowed membership.

If they check shots and do any kind temperament testing, then I'd say it's worth it. Or maybe a rule about losing membership if your dog doesn't play well, kind of thing. Any kind of regulation would make it worth it for me.

You don't have to purchase right now do you? Maybe drive by a couple times for like a month once they are open on times that you would take him, and see how many dogs are there? Then that way you can see if it would be worth it.

I also agree with this, I would love it if our dog park was regulated!

Right now its not offically open, but people have been bringing there dogs. The memberships will probably start sometime in july. So i will probably take him and talk to people and see how many will buy the memeber ship.
