Hi all, so we're feeding Halo Solid Gold puppy food, which she seemed to LOVE at first. This wasn't the same food she was on before though, so we transitioned her over to it gradually and mixed in a little bit of pumpkin to help out her stomach. Well now that she's only eating SG we stopped adding in pumpkin and she's doing her own little hunger strike! To make her eat something I got a can of Puppy Plate by Merrick and added a little of that. It worked for 2 meals before she just started licking up all the wet food and leaving the dry stuff. Any suggestions?? She definitely doesn't have her usual energy since she started being picky and not eating her meals.
Thanks!

I'd suggest some tough love. She needs to learn to eat what she's given and every time you give in and add something to entice her, it's another victory for her and only reinforces her behavior in holding out for what she wants. A healthy dog will not starve itself, so if you've ruled out any health issues I'd show her some tough love.

If she's still quite young and not eating anything I would give her some Nutrical (not with her meals, so she doesn't see it as a topper/mix in) just to get some calories and vitamins in her. For an older puppy or adult I wouldn't do Nutrical, but if she's really young and not eating a thing then you may want to use it. Also be sure she's not getting treats or table scraps so she doesn't have that to keep her food strike ongoing.

Thanks, I'll look into the nutrical. She's only 4 months so I just wanted her to eat something which is partly why I was caving so early but if there's something out there that can make it so it won't impact her health then I'll definitely be looking into that!
