PostSubject: Hi, I'm MiChelle - New here from Tucson, AZ    Hi, I'm MiChelle - New here from Tucson, AZ EmptyThu Aug 08, 2013 1:10 pm

Hello everyone! My name is MiChelle and I welcomed the love of my life into my heart and home back on March 3, 2013. He was a dirty little guy, barely 6 weeks old. His papa was a Therapy Husky, and Momma was just a beautiful Momma. His "owners" were having to get rid of all of their dogs (all huskies) due to roommate problems and I originally answered an ad to see a husky that was a year old.

When we arrived the owner told me that they had two puppies left from a litter of 8 they were also getting rid of. I was hesitant on even looking at a puppy that was only 6 weeks old, but then she walked over to a plastic pet cage that had the door pushed against the wall and pulled out two filthy but adorable puppies and handed one to me and one to my daughter.

I was so upset that they were locked in that little "cage" with no way to see daylight, or play that I immediately said YES. My only regret is that we didn't take both puppies. She said they were already completely weaned, and to her credit they were.

Rogue was the pup that my daughter was holding, and he was just a chill little guy. He was this weird yellow color but as soon as we got him home we gave him a bath. And he was in HEAVEN! Suddenly we had this beautiful white and reddish-brown little fluff ball who just pranced, slid, skid and tumbled his way into our hearts.

Fast forward to today where Rogue is a Healthy, Strong and Rambunctious 6.5 month old pup. He has just started to lose his first coat a little at a time (for awhile he was just a smooth boy who hardly shed - yeah - those days are long gone as I swiffer hair enough to build a new dog!) and we are learning the challenges and joys of being owned by a husky. He definitely has to be reminded sometimes that he is not the pack leader - he loves to chew on both my daughter and I and since he was weaned so early he never really learned bite control so there are a lot of "No Rogue" sounds and we are constantly on the move to replace our flesh with a toy! He does recognize my husband as the alpha and when He tells him "No", Rogue will argue with him and then go lay down and pout - looking at us from the corner of his eye to see if we have changed our minds!

I am glad to find a community to share and grow with Rogue. He is a good boy and brings so much joy to our family!

Aww. So glad you got him from the state he was. He has grown up to be so handsome.

They are little monsters, but you learn that that's just who they are and love them regardless.

Welcome to the forum! Smile

Welcome to the pack!

Okami is a heavy chewer as well and we were target number one until I found a very very wonderful chewing brand, Nylabone. I highly suggest these and you will see constant power chewing at a lot of instances of the day. Hope that helps!

I am glad Rogue has a great home!

This is the one that I usually buy, but they have lots of great products. I would say that I have to buy a new on of these once every two months or so, they are pretty sturdy.

We too are fans of the nylabone, of the Kong (I got the big black one and he LOOOOVES it) and ropes! He likes everything to be interactive so sometimes the nylabone gets a little short and his teeth a little close!

I try never to use the nylabone as an interactive toy, that is one that I let her chillax and chew on when I need to pay attention to something else, or it is a crate chew. I absolutely love the Kong too. We have the big black one and it is filled with peanut butter on occasion, and then I have a busy-body for the next 20 minutes! lol

Welcome MiChelle! I have an Aunt Michelle that lives in Tucson as well. How funny! So glad you adopted that pup out of what sounds like a terrible situation.
