PostSubject: Eye turned brown/reddish color   Eye turned brown/reddish color EmptySun Sep 22, 2013 11:58 pm

My husky is 2 years old and has had both blue eyes until recently i noticed it looked like his left eye was starting to change colors.

This is from 9-2-13

This is tonight
Eye turned brown/reddish color 2013-010

Is this something that can normally happen or could it be irritation/infection making it look this way?  I am planning on taking him to the vet but just wanted to see if anyone has seen this before.  Any advice would be appreciated.

How strange..I would take him to the vet. I've never heard of this before, not that I'm an expert on anything really. So..no advice, but keep us updated!

That is very odd, and definitely vet worthy. Let us know what you find out, I hope your pup is okay!

Definitely get to the vet. How is his vision on the side with the turned eye? The last time I saw an eye turn that drastically was my dad's bird dog. She stobbed her eye on a stick. We didn't know what had happened and ended up waiting too long before finding out there was nerve damage from pressure behind the eye that we didn't get taken care of fast enough. She ended up blind in the eye and the color never came back properly. It probably isn't anything that extreme but in matters of delicate eyes you can't move too quickly nor be too safe.

Looking closely at the first pic, it actually looks like it might have been starting to turn at that time. There seems to be a little bit of a tint in that photo too.

The first pic is where i began to notice it also but then didn't think anymore about it until i saw it again yesterday.
The vet didn't act like it was a big deal, that the color just looks like its changing to him....i didn't think that was a sure enough response so i called the animal eye specialist my mom takes her dog to. They said the color wouldn't just randomly change at this age and there are several things it could be. I think I'm going to make an appointment here just to be safe.

Yeah, definitely see someone. That to me seems very late for a husky to change eye color. My breeder said I think they only change up to like a year or something, but I could be wrong. Where huskies can have problems with their eyes, better safe than sorry!

Good luck with the eye specialist. No offense, but that vet is crazy.

Color changing is normal on puppies, but I have never heard of a Husky that changed eye color at that age. On the picture the eye does not really look like it is hurt or something but seeing a eye specialist is definately the best you can do.

I forgot to mention that the vet did have me get an ointment to try and see if it is something that would clear up.

Here is Kaison a little earlier tonight after having the ointment put in this morning.

It was looking a lot better but looking at it now, it looks worse like it did before.  I don't know if it is something like blood in it that could make it get worse at times or what.  He does seem to see fine out of that eye still though best I could tell.  I guess we'll find out from the specialist though, which i had to move to Monday.

I don't remember what the actual diagnosis was...If I recall correctly, we gave an eyedrop for a short period of time and it got better. Sorry, I know this probably isn't much help to you, but it did go away completely and never has had any more issues.
