What kind of cone do you have? Is it the plastic one that ties around the bottom or what? If I know what kind maybe, I can help with a solution.

I feel your pain. I had a similar problem like this with Nikolai, he was able to get his head around the cone to lick the stitches, so I had to cut and tape two cones together to make it extra long so he couldn't reach anymore.

Maybe you could tie a towel around his neck instead? I did that for Juneau. I used a thin bath towel. She wasn't able to reach around and lick her stitches.

Lol, I had this same problem with Lycus when he was neutered. The vet just ended up giving him an extra long cone.

I think you should try the towel method that Jackie suggested. It could help, I know people who have had success with it as well.

Firstly, if your cone uses a collar to hold on, adjust the collar tiny bits tighter till you see it not coming off, in addition that is where you should have the collar set for normal use (Able to snuggly fit two fingers flat between your dogs neck and the collar)

Secondly the vet suggested this to me when I took her in to get spayed.... If you have any toddler onesies... like 2T 3T sized, you can put those on (if it is in the general area obviously I just don't know where your dogs stitches are though) But they are convenient because they snap to stay on...

Anyhow, if none of this helps, or if for my first suggestion your cone doesn't stay on with a collar, I suggest you obtain one that does, it is a lot safer and easier to keep them on.

The cone we got is the one with snaps, i called them and it is the only kind they have. he is doing better now, but he is still not happy with it. i feel so bad for my baby boy. he sits and lays by the door all day, wanting to play outside. :C

Awww, poor cone head. Lexi is my worst conehead. She will literally walk into everything and hit the cone. Luckily it will be over soon and he will be back to playing again. Smile

Yep, thats the same thing Turbo does. he is not doing it as much anymore, and i know how happy he is going to be when it comes off and he can play outside again. he just lays by the door giving you this "look" trying to make you feel guilty and let him out. <3 its SO cute.
