Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Karma won't let ANYONE brush her. Empty
PostSubject: Karma won't let ANYONE brush her.    Karma won't let ANYONE brush her. EmptyWed Jan 22, 2014 3:33 pm

Lately Karma hasn't been letting us brush her, and her fur is looking kind of nappy!!
I've checked her body for any signs of scraps, bruises, bumps...etc. It's not just one area...
she just wont let me get near her with any kind of brushing tool. She'll warn us by trying to snap, and growl at us...WHICH IS NOT NORMAL behavior for her. It's kind of scary. She lets us play, and pet her like normal. I'm able to grab her, and touch her.

I've asked the kids and other family members if they've scared her with a brush, or if they did something to her, and no one has.
I wonder what scared my poor Karma? Any ideas?

We've also pulled Kato aside and brush him, trying to reassure her that it's ok, but she just turns around and walks away.

it could be the brush you are using, she may not like the feel of it on her back, i know my Nala doesnt like to be brushed at all but a certain brush does bother her more so we dont use it anymore, what kind of brush are you using?

^ I agree with Rachel, but also- she could be testing you. Mine went through this at about 8 months, you have to tell her no and correct it. Don't be afraid when you brush her or think about what might* happen. Think of what you want to happen, and if she acts like a jerk tell her no and continue. If you give in, you let her win and it'll only get worse. You could also spend the first few days "brushing" her with the back of the brush or the handle and giving her something REALLY good, like cheese or hotdog. Then when she sees the brush, its no big deal Smile Another option would be to send her to a groomer- this could be a win/win. You can see if they have any issues AND they usually use a velocity dryer which will blow out A TON of fur Wink Good luck in whatever you choose- just hang in there and stick with it, it WILL get better!
