PostSubject: Bacterial infection    Bacterial infection EmptyTue Jan 28, 2014 3:17 pm

So spent the morning at the vet with Jack, he has a bacterial staph infection, its minor and we have a bunch of meds for him. they did a skin scraping to figure out what it was. so some steroids and some meds i need to pick up still and both his ears are infected so we have ear meds to. our poor boy Sad i have been keeping an eye on his eye since thur when it started and the lip thing has been going on for a little while now but kept waiting for it to go away and he has been scratching his face more and more so i knew i had to take him in, last night his lip started to bleed. we just need to figure out if its allergies or not, if it clears up on the meds its a allergy. it all started when we switched his food to a turkey based protein, the ear infection came first then i noticed the mouth and switched him back to salmon but i was still giving him a turkey based treat and using the food scoop for the turkey for sierra and his salmon food so time to clean that all up when i get home and see if that helps as well. i just hope he can get to feeling better soon.

aw, poor Jack!
I hope it clears up with the meds and it turns out to just be an allergy to turkey (and maybe chicken?).

Has he never had turkey before? Or just in really small amounts in some treats?

With Ginger, she doesn't do well on 'processed' chicken, but will be OK if it's dehydrated or freeze dried chicken/turkey.

Feel better, Jack!

I hope it's something simple like turkey allergies and isn't anything more serious. Hopefully he feels better soon on the meds... :/

Koda is actually allergic to turkey i think also, but he didnt get a rash, he just got really really bad runs. Did jack have the runs when the food changed?koda does very well on chicken though which i think is a little werid. I hope it clears up quick and jack feels better!
