Hi everyone! I just want to say how grateful I am to have found this forum. There have been a couple of other forums out there that I have found but none as informative and friendly as this one.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I are from southern California – specifically the LA/OC area. My boyfriend has always wanted a husky, and after visiting his family in New Orleans and seeing his brother's husky I fell in love with the breed as well. On a snowboarding trip to Mammoth last January, we found that our neighbors (we rented a condo) had a litter of husky puppies. We liked to say that Shredder picked us. When we were given the opportunity to play with him for a few hours to make up our minds, Shredder laid down on our feet. Being only 4 weeks old at the time, we left him with his litter and came back 3.5 weeks later to pick him up.

When we first got Shredder he was scared of EVERYTHING. I wasn't able to walk him further than one house in either direction and if a dog started barking he would run for cover (or to me after a couple of days). We wasted no time getting him socialized. Now at 11.5 weeks Shredder is double the size (at least) from when we got him. Although he is still scared when dogs he doesn't know bark, he doesn't run home immediately. I'm hoping that he will be making some husky friends on here very shortly.

Thanks Jeff and Melissa. I've been wondering this for a while. Does anybody know if I should be concerned that Shredder came from a small litter? He's 1 of 3.

I personally don't know if that's a reason to be concerned .

Were there any problems or was 3 the actual size of the litter? What did the breeder have to say?

Such a cute puppy! Sounds like he's doing pretty well so far and you're doing a great job socializing him. It's normal for puppies to be scared of lots of things, especially new experiences (which in this point of their lives is practically everything), between 8 and 12 weeks of life, yet it's also the most important period in their lives of introducing them to lots of positive experiences with people and other animals.

Welcome! I'm looking forward to watching little Shredder grow. Smile

BTW, we have the same harness for Layla as the one in the pic. Same color, too. Smile

Laughing Shredder already chewed through his harness. However, I was able to cut off the parts he chewed through and make it into a collar.

Haha, nice work! Layla half chewed through hers. We got her a new harness before she got all the way through. We're saving it for a hand-me-down when her sister or brother comes along in a few months. Razz
