Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hello everyone! I've been using this forum to help me research getting my first husky. It's finally time! I am driving from Colorado to NY and picking up my new best friend along the way, a 8 week old baby siberian husky!!!

NY is where I'm originally from, but I have been living in Vail for the last 3 years. Going to go home for a little bit and get my husky under control, figured it would be easier to to potty train and such in my house where someone would always be home to keep an eye on her. Then after that it's back to Colorado!

NYC NY? Or elsewhere, NY?

So home to Mommy to help with the potty training? Mom's are good that way Laughing Here's hoping my son thinks the same - I'd love for Ami to have playmate but I can't see me being able to manage 2 on walks...2nd best would be for son to have one I could "borrow" on occasion...wishful thinking

Welcome and good luck with your puppy - and to a happy visit home Very Happy

That's a might different from the mountains of Colorado. Don't think there's even a beginner slope down there, is there? My younger son would be very jealous - he really wants a husky pup but has to travel extensively spring and fall. (And he has young kitties. And a new fiancee who works a lot. And her young son. But, he does have the land for an active dog - just bought a house with 5 acres. Doable out here, probably not for starting out in Long Island.) He also really wants to live in Colorado!

Where is your pup, now? Male or female? Color? Pics? Please? Be safe on your journey.

My puppy is in Indiana right now, I can't pick her up until she is 8 weeks old. She is six weeks now, so I scheduled my trip around picking her up. She will be ready on the 25th. She is an adorable gray and white female, I will post up some pictures when I get home to my computer!

Congrats on the pup but I hate to break it to you that you may still have to retrain when you move back to CO. New home new environment, usually means retraining...
How long do u plan to he I NY?
