1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi forum. This is technically my first dog so excuse me if I'm being a little paranoid. Last night I found a small red patch on Shredder's belly. When I got home today it seems like that red spot has progressed to something else. To what? I'm not sure. My vet won't let me email them a picture to see if I need to bring him in or not. They're giving me the, "you have to bring him in for a consult." They might as well say, "we want your money so bring him in anyway even if it's nothing."

So heres the picture. I hope somebody can tell me if I'm freaking out for nothing. Thanks in advance.

Does it seem to irritate him in any way? Is he constantly licking or scratching at it? I was thinking maybe it's a hot spot but I can't be sure.

He's always cleaned himself in that area when he's bored. But other than that, I can't really see what he does in his crate.

If you can find a non toxic pen I might outline it so you can see if it gets larger. That or you could put a coin next to it and take pictures to see if it gets bigger and keep and eye on it.

If you think it might just be dry skin you could put coconut oil on it. I have been told it is safe if they lick it so we use it on our pups.

Also just FYI on the computer I am on now I can't see the picture but I will take a look at it when I get home see if it looks like the spots my girl sometimes gets.

My pup had something similar, and it took quite a bit of work to get it to go away. I got an antiseptic spray called vetericyn and cleaned it with that several times a day. I also kept it dry and made him wear a cone if I couldn't watch him. Keeping it dry and keeping him from licking it was the most important thing.

Jen it sounds like Dizzy is/was a medical handful. With lots of little issues I am impressed with how well you have handed them. I am sorry you have had to deal with it but it makes you a wealth of information.

Ha ha. Yeah he's been a pain in the butt. But I love the little guy so what can ya do? I think it's all allergy related though with him.
