1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Thank you so, so much for sharing, Tori! We're one big husky family and we're so touched by everyone that has shared, sent their best wishes and donated! I've been super busy starting my own business and helping to run the rescue, so I'm not always here (but I lurk!) but this is such a valuable resource as is the entire husky community.

Can I share his account # here for the link you shared? It is: 10032123

We got an update from Nanuk and he's breathing on his own and stable. Bad news is that his face is already blistering and his one eye is already damaged, the other one has to be looked at tomorrow. He has the absolute best care, the same place that helped save Chili and Frosti with her recent bloat episode (which I'll post on separately).

Get multiple fire extinguishers. Test your fire detectors. Give your neighbor's your contact info and give a couple trusted neighbors your key. I cannot emphasize how helpless I felt after my fire extinguisher finished and I still couldn't get in the house. Sasha the girl husky is ok, as is Nala the other small dog. Paws crossed for Nanuk. Hug your huskies tight tonight!

Just donated. Will be sharing. <3

Easy enough! I made a small donation, I wish I could do more. I shared on facebook too! Those pix of his face are just heartbreaking. I hope they have him good and drugged up and that he feels better soon! I know its gonna be a long road to recovery, but I know a husky spirit can handle it. Smile Good luck Nanuk!!!

I don't know why this situation is affecting me so much. It's all I can think about... the poor little guy Sad What a terrifying and terrible experience for him. I hope so much he comes out of this okay. I would be despondent if this were one of mine. I can't imagine what his family is going through.

I think because it's a situation that could happen to any of us. Regardless if you have working smoke detectors or not, if a house fire happens when no one is home and your dogs are locked inside / crated... there's no telling what could happen.

It's heartbreaking regardless.

Per Sam, he's turning 2 in April, so he's only 1.5 yrs old. Too young to have his life cut short by something like this. It looks like he will likely go blind from his injuries but with the proper help, he's expected to make a full recovery (aside from his vision).

As someone who lost two younger cousins (ages 16 and 13) to a house fire a couple years ago the thought of anything being trapped in a fire helpless to escape really hits close to home. We have a "in case of fire, please save my inside pets" sticker on our front door to notify any arriving emergency personnel or good samaritan that she's inside. Shared, donated, and prayers sent their way.

Here is the most recent update from Sam on the Facebook Page:

Samira (hollywoodhuskies) wrote:
Thank you all for sharing and your donations! The vet shared that they've received $1400 in donations from all around the world!

I'd love to be able to have a $0 vet bill when he checks out, as the family has hefty deductibles for their own home and contents to pay, plus security deposit on a new place. The estimate for two days was $3500-6000 and we'll get an update today. We'll likely need to add opthamplogist costs today to that as they assess if they can save his eyes.

He's stable and I'm waiting for an update from mom this morning, I'm headed here at 10 to see him and will share all of your best wishes.

The mom was overjoyed, overcome with emotion at your kindness and generosity and said that it's such a blessing! Even the vet staff is amazed and awed. Thank you all!

This really breaks my heart and even though I know many of you disagree with it, it makes me incredibly glad that my boy is safely enclosed outdoors during my working day so if anything like this ever happened to my home at least he would stand a chance.

Donated now and will share - sending many positive thoughts and love to this poor family!

I'll be donating what I can later today. His breaks my heart. It reminds me of a couple summers ago we had some flooding and a dog drowned because he was in a kennel in a ground floor apartment. We try to do the best we can for our pups, and a lot of times that means crating. But the crate can also be a dangerous factor in situations like this. Prayers are with Nanuk and his family.
