1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

First of I'd like to say hello, I'm new to the board but I've been lingering for a few weeks now. I Did some research before I got my sibe last week. She is purebred akc/ckc registered. She is 10 weeks old right now and so far I've been working with her on simple commands and training. She has knowledge of how and when to shake the bells to go potty and she seems to be grasping that the only things I'll allow her to chew are her food, treats and toys that I give her. So far all of her training is headed in the right direction, unfortunately there are a few things I want to work with her on so I figured I'd ask since I haven't seen the question before. She is very friendly, not aggressive at all, even with her food she Let's my 6 lb yorkie share her food with her. But she is starting to "hunt" or even "stalk" other dogs and even people when were out walking. I have no information on the subject so I have no idea if it's normal or not but it scares me to think she may continue on doing this when she is full grown. And she may be serious about hurting someone. Last thing I'd want for her to hunt another dog or person. So just an example, if were walking out of my complex through the parking lot, she will see people walking the same direction as us and start to get as low as possible (like a lion) and slowly creep towards them from behind, until she feels comfortable enough to run full speed at them. I have snapped her out of it every time she has done it but I want to know if this is a normal thing they do and if so, what should be done to stop her from attacking (God forbid). By the way, I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to. Thanks!

Welcome! Definitely post pics!

In terms of the stalking, it's definitely a husky trait and can be annoying. It also doesn't necessarily mean she intends to "attack." My pup does it before he approaches another dog for play, though only when off leash. I've never had him do it on lead. Your best bet is to try to consistently and positively re-direct her attention. Any time she starts doing it, get her attention back to you and give her treats and tons of praise when she focuses on you and not the other thing.

Journey LOVES stalking. Here's a pic. She will sneak up on everyone and anyone and as soon as she gets up to them they just jump up and run around having fun.
