This past month Ripley has decided that going in vehicles for rides is pretty cool after all & on Monday morning, as she watched my OH put his kayak in the back of the truck, she decided she wanted to come along.  So, we switched his mahogany for the tandem & I tagged along in case she decided she didn't like the upcoming adventure.  It was her first time coming to the river (Rideau) as well.  The most water she'd seen before this was our little fish pond, her little splash pool & my mother's big inground pool...

Well she loved it!  We just let her follow us down to the river & let her sniff around & decide herself if she wanted in the kayak.

Here are a few pics.  Smile

There was so much for her to see, she enjoyed drinking & touching the water, grabbing grass, flowers, turtles, fish & of course all the loons, ducks & geese.  At one point the prey drive kicked in & well, she didn't realize that puppies cannot run on water like ducks can!  My husband & I were able to catch her before she went overboard (only the front end did) & it scared the little pup a wee bit.  And what does she do when she gets startled?  Well she needs a cuddle from her Dadday of course!  Wink

Of course being her first time & being a pup, this is exciting & a novelty, so in time she'll learn to not go all over the kayak to get better views.  But all in all, she did great for her first outing! She was pretty tuckered out for a few hours which made the cat a very happy camper! Wink

Lynne,
Wow, what a great time you all had. She is so pretty, can't believe how light her coat is, compared to your avatar. Funny how their looks change as they grow. I miss our kayak, never had it with our girl, but it would have been so much fun. If Ripley is anything like our Miya, she will always wander around, even in the small confines of a kayak, because they are so nosy, have to see everything. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks,
Yeah I love how the coat changes too. I was forewarned about this & thought, yeah right it can't change that much! Well holy cow, it does & she's only 4 months old! Lol!

Her mask went away & then when it came back it looked like a classic pin striping on cars, you'd swear someone was colouring a perfect black line around her eyes, bit by bit daily. She then looked like someone had given her a pair of gag binoculars leaving a ring around the eyes. Now the grey is filling back in & the coat hair has a beige tone to it with grey at the tip of the hair shaft.
