My girlfriend sent me this link and it was so interesting to me that I thought about posting it here. When I clean Mylos water bowl I've always wonders why it was so shiny after a wash. This is it! "Bio film".

Interesting article Dave, thanks for posting it!

On the subject of water, just out of curiosity and just to gain insight in case I'm doing something not so great for my dogs, but how many of you give bottled water as opposed to water from the tap? Or any other sources of water ( I realize some of us might live where there is well water or use water filtration devices, etc)

As puppies, both Kohdi and Mishka would get very funny poop when I gave bottled water. I didn't connect it til someone told me to try giving water from the faucet/tap. I did and the runny poop stopped. So now I only give water from the tap...but I don't know if this is good for them or not.

very interesting read. i usually change their water blows few times a day and wash it at least one a week or when it feels smiley, might have to start washing it more often. i gave Leo some bottled water once only because i ran out of water i had brought from home for him in another bottle and it didn't agree with him very well let just say you could see it in the #2's. now i bring with me a small cooler of water when we have any road trips.

The tap water in Toronto is safe so that's what I drink and what Cora drinks, I honestly hate the taste of bottled water so my family never really buys it.

Ohh I like where you took the thread to @Artic_Wind!
Wow it's interesting to see the opposition of bottled water Shocked
We give Mylo water primarily from the big 5 gallon purified water thing where you go and fill it up..idk what exactly that's called haha but yeah and also we give him bottled water too, we've never had an issue. However as a puppy he got served bottled water, now I wonder if that had something to to with his on and off loose stools he had frequently as a little pup especially since what I'm reading here from you guys, very interesting. Mylo has never had tap water, unless he did when he was still with the breeder.
Now on another note, does the temperature of the water matter? As in cold water or room temp

Oops....I have only been washing her bowl every 2 days or more often if I see that there's a lot of dirt or grass in it (usually happens if she's been playing outside) or if I feel any grime with my fingers. As far as water source, we have never given Red bottled water. She gets what we get and that's well water but its filtered and we have a UV light installed. Never had problems with  her stools. If it's a really hot hot day, we add ice to it. Otherwise she gets the water at the temp at which it comes from the coolest setting from the faucet. She'll still drink the water if it's gone to room temp from sitting in her bowl. Haven't observed any detrimental effects or preference from Red on either ice cold or room temp water.

See, if I add ice, my two go fishing it out and water soon is all over the place, hahaha. My two drink it room temperature most of the time I guess.

@Dave, it's probably purified Spring water ur talking about, atleast thats what it is here.

If you have a lot of tile Dave, and u wanna have some fun with Mylo, do what I do with mine...I take ice cubes and slide them from the kitchen all the way down the hall while there little paws are going like crazy trying to get a grip on the tile to go chase them, lol, then they go sliding to a stop once they reach them, it's hilarious! They love ice cubes!

Yup! Red loves fishing for ice cubes too! Whenever I give her frozen carrots, she will play with them all over the tile floor until she's ready to eat it. This includes pouncing, pushing, barking at and chasing the carrot.....this is serious playing with your food!

Good grief....Miya has a bowl and I use part bottled water that I drink and part tap. Here in Texas even if I ran my tap water for several minutes it comes out lukewarm. Miya's preference is to drink from the bathtub faucet, she will go in and lick the faucet or stare me down until I go turn it on for her, lol. When we come inside from playing I tell her to go get thirsty, and she goes to the bathtub, haha. She rarely drinks from her bowl, in fact I believe she only uses it if we are sleeping and her stare down doesn't work... Laughing Nice topic and great article, thanks Dave.
