| Hi, my baby kenjie is 3months old. According to the vet, he is infected/infested by termites inside his body. It showed first on his eyelids, skin infection. The vet prescribed a cream and soap for it. Then after a week gave him a shot because kenjie didnt get better. Now, he is almost bald with scratches on his forehead. And he is given another shot by vet. I dont really know the situation because I am not at home.
Baby kenjie is still playful and energetic though his physical appearance is very pitiful.
according to the vet. It will take two months for the termites to be totally gone. I hope these vaccines or shots he is giving wont have any bad effects on my baby. |

| That sounds terrible. Never heard of termites in dogs. I've heard of ear mites. Sounds like he has mange almost. I hope he gets to feeling better. Not very old to be going through such a major ordeal. _________________ |

| Never heard of termites in animal, mites of different ind yes. What a poor baby, so young. My friends boxer had dermodox at 5 mo-8 mo and it did clear up (she did go bald though before it got better). So with that said hopefully it will clear up and eventually even appearance will be okay. |

| Okay, a not so quick google looking at all the dogs who are used for termite hunting and all the various ways to kill termites ... but the only place I've found about dogs and termites responded with (paraphrasing) "termites eat cellulose, they might eat the wood that the dogs house if made of but they're no danger to the dog".
Chuck, I'd suggest that someone (whoever was talking to the vet) had an ear lapse and heard termite rather than mite. Mites like the moisture to be found around the eyes, ears and "other" places and if the infestation were bad could cause lesions and result in an infection of some kind.
BTW, would you mind going back and filling out your profile a bit more, please. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Being away has to make the worry worse but hang in there. I do not think that mites are considered something irreversible. The medicine should work and once they are gone he will start to recover. Keep us updated! |
