Yeah he's tired, we fed him a little bit of food by hand cause he doesn't want to get up and he's been quiet still. We got sent with 6 pills for pain. I know tomorrow might be totally different from today maybe haha. I'm surprised that he doesn't seem interested in locking himself at all...not yet?

Were not sure what to do with the potty situation...we feel scared to take him outside in fear of infection so we let him pee once in the house already and he did it near the door to go outside of corse, he was begging us to take him out prior to him letting it out. What did you guys do? Let them on the cement at least? I know grass is better off limits.

I never heard of any restrictions on where to "go".

In terms of the pain pills, something to consider...though it may sound cruel, him feeling a little bit of pain will help to keep him calmer. Some people prefer not to give the pain pills to facilitate with keeping them less active. Your call though obviously on how Mylo is taking it.

Definitely agree with Sara on both counts. He's solidly stitched so there isn't any real big problem with anything "getting in", just use reasonable caution. You don't want him running off down the street, but you do want him to get a reasonable amount of "stretching" (muscles, not stitches). And a short walk around the yard is just the thing ... and he'll probably "do his thing" while he's out but it may be apparent that he's uncomfortable when he tries to "hike a leg up".

Watch what you're feeding him, anesthesia makes some dogs have a "nervous stomach" so what goes in may come back up a little while later. Since he's not active, a little food can go a loooooong way.

Since this is more like a female spaying than a simple male neutering (meaning it was more invasive), as Sara said, keeping him "aware" of the pain is going to help keep him calmer.

My final comment on this, I know you spent good money on the collar but you may not need it. It's natural for any dog, male or female, to lick the site of a wound. If he just licks occasionally the collar may become more of a nuisance to all of you; of course if he's licking himself obsessively then you want the collar to stay - a dog can pull the stitches if he works at it long enough / hard enough.

Kohdi had the basic neuter, but I didn't give him pain meds after he came home (I don't take them myself either, they make me sick to my stomach) and he did fine...my vet was the one who even said it wasn't necessary, saying that the meds given during the time of the surgery were enough to carry the dog thru. But as Sara said, it's your call on how you feel Mylo is taking it.

Alright I'll take him out the next time he wants to do his business. So far he has only peed since he came back home last night. Ohh and I've been wanting to say that Mylo has never "hiked a leg up" to pee...is that something males just develop or do they learn it from other pups? He's been calm and sleeping but is walking around more than yesterday. Were thinking if to I've him his pill later or not.
He's barely wanting to lick today and the cone isn't long enough but it still blocks most of the area.

Dave - I think it's developmental. Ami was just beginning to lift his leg when we got him at 1 year. And he was frequently tipsy while doing it. Now he's a pro lol!

Archer was a squatter when Josh first got him at 4 mos. I made a big deal out of "myu baby boy is growing up" about a month ago - little boy was lifting his leg on the trees. He was about 13 mos at that point.

So Mylo has a way to go yet.

Bode squatted to pee for a while and then one day just decided to start lifting his leg (I believe it was after the neuter). Now he just throws his leg up as far in the air as possible, it amazes me he doesn't fall over.

^ Sara, that is too funny.

Mishka is a half-way lifter. Like, he does a lazy lift when he pees and sometimes he gets REALLY lazy and will squat a bit and pee like a horse does. He only ever really lifts his leg when he's trying to mark on something on our walks and he's got the worst balance when he does...

Interesting so he will just start doing it randomly lol
He's 7months at the moment, he's always peed just standing up and lifts his tail up like a lever haha
And Mylo is much more active than yesterday, he's more enthusiastic for food than yesterday and even hopped twice and didn't whine I'm like wow I think he's recovering good. He's still doing a lot of napping though
