Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

Bandit always has certain areas of her body she likes to chew. Back of legs, tail, and back of front leg joints. She bites it almost raw developing hotspots or just all the hair off. Multiple checks confirm no fleas or ticks. The most recent, in literally 15 mins she chewed the back of both front legs almost fully raw and bleeding. She was outside chowing down on a bone while my dad and I were cutting wood for kitchen remodeling. I'm why... Every time I'd look she was eating the bone. But anyway is there anything good I can do for her skin. I believe something is irritating her skin. Possible food alergy? I've been feeding taste of the wild salmon for almost a year with no issues.

Does she chew at a certain time? Is it worse during different seasons? Dogs can suffer from seasonal allergies so that might be something to consider. Does she do it after a bath? It could be the soap isn't rinsing very well. It could also be a sign of anxiety. Have you taken her to the vet? I'm sorry I know it is expensive but if she's chewing it raw it may be good to seek help.

My uncle made a good point. Over the past 2 days the house has been full of people. Bunched of commotion. She doesn't really get a chance to sleep other than at night. Not a normal routine for her. Stress and anxiety are what he said. I have given her a bath in a while. She doesn't like ein wet at all. I don't fight her with it. Maybe she needs one

I see what you are saying! How long has she been having the chewing issues? Did it kick up with the remodel? When you're cutting the wood is it possible the saw dust is irritating her?

She wanders the back yard sometimes and I just let her do whatever. I don't believe I have ever seen poison ivy.
