| Firstly, I would like to point out that all my topic names sound like episodes of always sunny in Philadelphia... Anyway, So Here's the story. Every night before we go to bed, I take Koda out for our last potty. It was about 11:30 and we had a big ole' storm a brewing that was probably going to hit within the hour. I pulled the door to, but didn't shut it, and hooked Koda up for her to do her business. She walks around the side of the building and wouldn't you know, a HUGE pit bull comes running around the other side of the building. While suppressing a mini heart attack, I walk over to the dog and tell him to go. He starts to walk away until he sees my Koda. Now I know pit bulls with the right owners can be great dogs, but how am I to know if he's a good dog or not? So I'm freaking out! He gets to Koda before me, but luckily they greet each other and seem to be getting along for a split second. The pit bull jumps around trying to play and knocks my door open. I pick up Koda (God she is heavy but it's my only option because if he gets a bone there WILL be a fight) and I walk inside telling the pit bull to leave. He plays with her favorite toy for just a minute then grabs a part of a bone and leaves. So I shut the door behind him and set Koda down. When he picked the frog up, I could feel her body tense up, and with the bone, She let out a deep, angry growl. I don't think she has ever been that pissed in her life. She ran around the apartment sniffing for her bone and when she didn't find it, she would growl at the door, then look at me and whine. She would begin again, running around, sniffing every place she thought the bone might be, then growling at the door, then whining at me. This went on for about 15 minutes until finally we went back outside for her to potty. The gods smiled down on us and the bone was sitting in front of the door. Koda saw it and became overjoyed she still had her bone. She peed, grabbed the bone, and carried it inside to hide it from the mean bully. It's now in an undisclosed location under maximum security... It's hidden behind her stuffed penguin in her crate, but you didn't hear that from me... |

| Glad it was a good dog even if it did have a life of thievery in mind. I think I have a backup of all items at my house just in case. We had a neighbor dog one time get into my shed and steal a half of a rib cage I was drying out for my dogs. I'm sure her owners were wondering where she got that when she came dragging it up. Note: I at any given time may have a full deer carcass curing in my shed for the dogs to eat throughout the year. It's a real Hannibal Lecter scene. So even with her stealing half a rib cage I still have bones left over. Sometimes you need backups of the backups. _________________ |

| If they didn't "set to" with the toys around, you might have found a good play mate for Koda. A good natured pit is about the right size / weight for play time, just watch the pottery!! Any idea who owns the thief that returns bones?? _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Ha! Hannibal Lecter indeed!
It's about to be deer season here in a few months (I think, I don't get into hunting) but I'll have to get someone to kill me one. I don't have a shed, but the bathroom will do quite nicely!
Backups are a good idea INDEED! Guess I'm going shopping for a new bone today...
Al, I'm not sure. I've seen him run around a few times and a group of young girls always chase him down. Whoever owns him also has a bloodhound and a Chihuahua that run around too. He did very well with Koda; He seemed like a pretty good dog. Next time I'll just have to flag down the owners and arrange a play date! |
