Ami Meets His Match! Empty
PostSubject: Ami Meets His Match!   Ami Meets His Match! EmptyFri Sep 25, 2015 6:49 pm

Weather was iffy today so we took Ami to the Bark Park nearby. The first oddity was a...siberian husky/shih tzu mix affraid Yup - the went to Indiana, I think, to get her. But, they were in the little dog area.

We were ready to leave when a young man brought a 13 month old Irish Wolfhound to play. A wheaten brindle. He was HUGE!!! At least, he was tall. Quite gangly/lanky. When he ran, he loped. And I swear, he has a constant laughing face. He rapidly found the bag of kibble in my pocket and was nosing it. When I didn't produce, he nosed my hand, stood back and looked at me with the most engaging, pleading smile I love you (Yes, he got some Rolling Eyes )

What was really funny was Ami's initial reaction to the horse lol! Ami is 25" it the shoulder and I can scratch his ears without bending over with my finger tips. The wolfhound? I can pat his back with my elbow bent. Ami looked at him, I swear, with amazement. And then, consternation...as in who put the horse in the pasture...is this thing safe confused I think this is the first dog Ami has met that was bigger than him. And this guy was waaayyyy bigger.

But then, they played great. And then...a labra-doodle...an Old English Sheepdog and a German Shepherd. All romped great. Then it rained and we left.

Interestingly - the man with the wolfhound? Moved here 2 weeks ago from Fort Drumm, New York. And - the wolfhound eats...are you ready? Twenty-three cups of food per day. Yup. 23 Cups A DAY.

I would love a wolfhound. I don't think I could handle the short lifespan of giant breeds though. Otherwise I'd like a Bernese Mountain Dog too.

We have a mastiff around Bode's age at our complex that both the boys love playing with. Similar to Ami at first though, they were like WTF is this giant thing?

Bourbon loves playing with Great Danes (they never are quite into the rough play though) and Great Pyrenees, now most of the pyrenees will play others just get chased.
