Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Analytical Inquiry - Birth Month / First Coat Blow Empty
PostSubject: Analytical Inquiry - Birth Month / First Coat Blow   Analytical Inquiry - Birth Month / First Coat Blow EmptyThu Oct 08, 2015 4:24 pm

Hi everyone! I am relatively new to the forum and I've run through quite a few topics that have served useful to me. I share my house with Kai, who is now 8 months old, and I am still trying to better understand him, both as a breed and as my companion himself. With that being said, I was wondering if some of you could share the month your companions were born and when they first blew their first coat.  I know there are a lot of variable intrinsic/extrinsic factors for the aforementioned, but I do like observing trends and patterns! Thank you all! Very Happy

Miya was born 11/6/12 and her first blow was April or May. We live in west central Texas, her coat blows typically are April/May and then again October/November(fall blows are not as significant as her spring blows). Hope that helps!!

Gabby was born January 5th. Her first coat blow was in December. So she was ~11 months old. To add to this though, she spent from January to August in Indiana, then moved to Missouri.

They're supposed to go through a major one at 10-14 months. I haven't noticed any life ending amounts of shedding in loki yet. He shed a bit in late spring but it was nothing I hadn't seen in other dogs before. Maybe it wasn't a full on coat blow? Nothing like the horror stories a lot of people have lol.

Leo was born on may 5th, did his first shed in march-may this year but it came out in sections here and there, i think next years shed will be a full coat blow. he has slowly stared his winter shed its very slow; it started mid to late August- early September and its still slowly coming out.
