2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Newbie here,
I've had my dog Snow for about 2 years now and thinking about getting another husky for him to play with. Snow seems pretty territorial around other dogs.. he does not like my mother's dogs at all and tends to bark at smaller ones but he does okay with my friends dog who is a Boxer mix. I joined this forum to get some advice on acquainting him with a possible dog mate and how to go about doing so. Thanks everyone!

If possible, I would go through a rescue, do a meet and greet and allow Snow to pick out his own companion. Short of that, introduce them off premises in neutral territory. Enlist another person, each of you with dog on leash, at opposite ends...then walk towards each other and pass (not too close) and let the dogs get curious about each other.

Is snow neutered? May be easier if he is...

That being said? My son got a 4 month old husky mix after I had Ami for almost a year. Son stopped by with Archer when bringing him back from transport. It was instant love and they have been fast friends since.

Amy mentioned what I was going to say. Either let your dog pick the next dog in the household, or let them meet in neutral territory, like a park. I've found dogs tend to bond well when they're taken for walks together.

Thanks everyone for the reply
Snow is neutered, I think he just doesn't like small dogs since he doesn't seem to be aggressive with big dogs but he is definitely alert. I usually tug on his harness and tell him no if I see him get too excited or if his little lipstick comes out lol. I do notice he has some dominance behaviors like jumping on top of my coffee table and walking like a prince lol but should I be concerned about these little behaviors before bringing home a new dog? Thanks again I'll definitely bring him to choose his new pal.
