Did I defeat the evil Gas Monster? Empty

So, ever since getting Zhukov, it has been a feeding adventure.  Not that he doesn't eat whatever I put down in front of him.  I am pretty sure that if I ground up a brick, the dog would gobble it down.  It's the gas.  That horrible stench that pops out of his body.  Oh Lord, it is horrible.  He is a mobile chemical warfare factory.  We tried all the dried and wet food combinations.  Several times I searched the house looking for a hidden pile of poop.  Almost every morning, when you open the door to his room, it hits you in the face like a train and I swear, the room would be 10 degrees warmer. Since his kennel is in my son's room, I am surprised that Joe survived and is not brain damaged.

Anyways, when we got back from dropping Joe off at college, I decided to try something new. We stuck with his favorite dry food, Merricks, and tried adding some "fresh" ingredients. I boiled up some chicken livers and ground chicken. Then I added some parboiled carrots and peas. I strained off the "juice" and put that in a separate container, which I use as a gravy. So, for the price of about 3 cans of wet food, I made enough to feed both of my dogs for about a week. On top of that, they LOVE it!!!

Colby has never been a problem with gas, and actually always seems shocked when he farts. He looks around with that shocked look and then sniffs his own butt, like "what was that???". When Zhukov farts, he just acts like it is completely normal and carries on like nothing happened and then gets all excited as people exclaim "OH MY GOD!" and "GET AWAY FROM ME!" and attempt to flee the room.

So, in short, hopefully this is a breakthrough and I can keep this going for a while.

When we were fostering Rocco he had gas problems at first. The two things that helped the most was using a slow feed bowl and switching him to our high protein food, Blue Buffalo. After a few days the farting stopped.

If the new food doesn't help try a slow feed bowl and it will cause him to slow down and not take in less air when he eats.

When we first brought Mia home, she had "death farts". So. Bad. It was so bad the fumes made me vomit a few times. You could hear her tummy gurgling from across the room... We switched her off the purina pro plan chicken the rescue had her on, and got her onto the blue buffalo wilderness bison, and her tummy problems went away.... Hopefully your diet change will help-nothing worse than doggie death farts. Good luck!!!

I have tried a lot of different dry foods. Merricks is the only food that does not give him loose poop. I also tried the slow feed bowl, but he would pick the food out and deposit it on the floor. Also, it was a pain with any wet food. Hopefully this food mix is the miracle cure.

ROFL, this is so totally Mishka! Then she looks at me like I did it! I always have to assure her that it was indeed her.
