Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Is there a way to quickly sort posts by most recent?    Is there a way to quickly sort posts by most recent? EmptySun Dec 11, 2016 1:41 am

Hopefully, this is the proper subforum to ask this question. I would like to know if there is a faster way to sort postings to most recent versus clicking through the arrows. Is there a way to set most recent post as the default as well?

Thanks

In "classic", the posts are the most recent.

How do you switch back to the classic setting?

There is a little drop down menu, I think it's in the upper right hand corner, at the bottom of it, the very last option is "classic", just tap it and your screen changes to the classic version. Any topic you click on then, will bring up the very last post to it and in addition, you have all the latest topics posted too listed on the right hand side of the page. If I knew how to post pics with my iPad, I'd be able to show you easier, but hopefully this was good enough.

Well, Jimmy, once again you've got me looking .... I think what you're talking about is this:
Is there a way to quickly sort posts by most recent? Sort10
Now the odd thing is that I see that in only one part of the forum, the rest of the forum shows me:
Is there a way to quickly sort posts by most recent? Nosort10
Since I run an ad-blocking program on my browser, my first though was that *it* was blocking that selection so I turned it off.  Nope, still no sort option.
Then I took a run through the profile options to see if there was something there that would turn it off, Nope, none that I see.
Then, since you mention a "classic" option I went looking for that and couldn't find it.
This all suggests that different people are seeing different views of the forum - obviously the mobile version will be significantly different, but I didn't expect something that is pretty basic would be that different on the "desk top" version.

Could I get some comments please?  Like what browser are various people using and is the "sort block" there or not?
The only other browser I have on this laptop is "Edge" (which is really slow!) and does *not* display the sort block.
Odd ......

ETA: Curiosity got the better of me, I have Chrome and IE 11<?> on my tower, so I switched over there for a few minutes.  I still don't see the sort block, in either browser.

Hey Al, I'm actually not certain I answered the OP's question, I can only go by my own experience since I use my iPhone to access the site during the day, my iPad any other time, and my laptop pretty much just to post pics. The way the OP's question was understood by me, is how the site is when I use it from my iPhone. When I come on here, it's a totally different screen than what you have pictured (your pics ARE the "classic" version) my experience is...with the screen I get on my iPhone, it shows all the topics in a line, and if I tap, for instance, "scrapbooks", it takes me from the very first page of said scrapbook and in cases like my own, where there's like 50+ pages, it takes awhile to get to the most recent post in it, so I tap "classic" version in the little drop down, and then my iPhone behaves like any other device I access this site with. If I have time later, I'll do screen shots from my iPhone to show you what I mean.

What part of the forum allows you the option to sort? I only have seen the action icon that does not allow me to sort.

I have not used the mobile version of this site yet, but based on the comments, it seems that the mobile version is more functional than the Desktop version.

FYI, I use the latest version of chrome on the latest version of macOS.

I was afraid someone would ask ... suffice it to remind you I have some admin priv's, I have sort option in that area, otherwise not.

Interesting that I get the classic version on my tablet.
