Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi. I want advice because i am about to change their diet . from Special Dog food to Proactivo dog food. Some of you might not have heard the name because it might not be in your place. Anyways this are the contents of the Proactivo dog food.

Poultry meal, ground rice, beef tallow (preserved with mixed tocopherols, source of natural vitamin E), high protein soybean meal, dried banana meal, rice bran, flax seed, dried brewers yeast, spray dried whole egg product, lecithin, chicken liver oil, calcium phosphate, amino acid supplements (L-lysine HCl, DL-methionine, L-threonine), Yucca schidigera extract, salt, trace minerals (copper sulfate, ferrous sulfate, magnesium sulfate, manganese sulfate, potassium iodide, sodium selenite, zinc oxide), vitamin supplements (choline chloride, vit. A, vit. D3, vit. E, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, vit. B6, vit. B12, niacin, biotin, folic acid).

Is this ok? thank you for your help Smile

Does the bag give the breakdown by percent of protein, fat and carbohydrate? Having the 3rd ingredient be beef tallow (which, I think, is pure fat) seems a bit strange - but that observation is purely my gut speaking, I have NO data to back up that statement.

I almost choked when I got to "dried banana meal" before realizing that the OP is in the orient.... definitely not something *I* see in dog food everyday. Smile

And OP, what flavour of Special Dog food are you feeding.  Lazada shows a couple and PetWareHouse show only Duck ... but none give any good information.  I second Amy's request for more information if you have it.

Looking at a poll of Foods, Vitality seems to be most popular while Special Dog is 3rd out of 10.

ETA:  OP oyu might want to wade through this FaceBook link there seem to be a number of comments / comparisons of the various foods available to you - but most of them seem to be in Tagalog<?>
