Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | We're almost through our first month with Misty, and for an adult Husky that was never trained before, she's settling in very nicely. Misty is very affectionate, funny, friendly, responding well to leash training, and is doing better about staying in the yard. We're STILL having trouble with housetraining (ARRRGGH!), but the crate training is coming along very nicely. There's hope that the housetraining issues will be resolved once Misty is completely comfortable with her crate. It's a good thing I was already planning to get new flooring.
ANYWAY, Misty has one quirk that has surprised me because it's identical to a quirk my Malamute had back in the day: Whenever two people hug each other around Misty, she howls at them and then she physically shoves herself between them. Not in a mean way -- she actually wags her tail the whole time. It's almost like she wants to be hugged, too. When we DO hug her, though, she does the typical dog-leaning-away-"I-like-you-but-I-don't-like-THIS" thing.
Yeah, my Malamute used to do the same thing -- and it was a lot more annoying because he was about thirty pounds bigger than Misty. I've had five different Spitz/Nordic dog breeds (and also shared a hotel room with a Karelian Bear Dog for ten days in Finland -- Does that count?), and of them all, only the Husky and the Malamute have behaved this way. Does anyone else's Husky do this?

Ami gets affectionate occasionally when we hug. Once at a concert in the park, we were slow dancing, he eased with is on leash, and jumped up on us. joining in the dancing.

LOL, yep, Miya will push herself into the hug, and then stand on her hind legs in order to be for reals a human, bahahahahahaha I think that is awesome that she loves her new family so much that she wants in on the affection.

My gsd mix will woo at people. He thinks he should be the center of all attention, not just hugging. _________________

My husky does the same thing. so now when i pretend to hug the air she will run over and jump on me. That way no one else can give me a hug. Not even the air.
