With the holidays, one question that comes up every year is, What To Get The Dog?  So, this is Misty's first Christmas with us, and one thing I've done is, since she has a monthly BullyMake box subscription, I left aside her December box when it showed up so she could open it on Christmas day instead.  Of course, my daughter immediately accused me of being "cheap" (even though I counter-argued that a lot of people don't even get holiday gifts, plus for Misty EVERY day is a holiday), so we started looking for something in addition to the BullyMake box.

THEN I ran into the "practical gift or fun gift" argument. The hubby and the kid would like nothing better than to get Misty a real harness and hook her up to a sled.  Sounds great, and I know most Huskies love to work at pulling, but it just seemed like more of a present for the humans than for the dog (not to mention expensive).  In the end, we ended up getting her a long chew-and-tug rope.  Misty LOVES to pull on a little short rope we have, but it just doesn't seem long enough for her to get a really good grip, so a longer rope it is.  At least my daughter seems pleased with the decision.

I'm sure Misty will be fine with whatever we give her.  She's been VERY nosy about the presents under the tree, but she's been good so far.  At least she hasn't tried to tear into any of them.  I've had dogs in the past that would have liked nothing better than to completely trash the tree and any presents underneath.  Bet some of you have dogs like that, too!   Wink

... and I'm betting that she'd have had as much fun with the harness and the sled as the adults<???>

'course, I'm laughing here - hook an untrained pup up to a sled and the people on it might really be in for the ride of their lives!!!

Laughing lol!   Yeah, you're right, Al!

One thing I have learned with dogs and presents, though, is to not give my dog a new food treat as a present.  My dog may be thrilled at the beginning but then almost always ends up sick.  That was true of all of my dogs, except maybe my Lapphund.  A real garbage disposal dog, that one.  Seemed like he could eat just about anything and never get sick.

Cute story--I enjoy your daughter's perspective. Be sure and post a photo if you get the sled! Haha

Looking up the BullyMake box...

(Oh, too cool! We did BarkBox for two years, but the treats were usually panned and the toys sometimes fragile. The destroyers club option was good, but limited, and we have the whole collection now. So thanks for the heads up.)
