First, let me say that today is only the third day of toilet training so I know it'll take a bit longer.
However, perhaps we've made the job more difficult for ourselves by having her go to the toilet inside for over a month before we've done this (she couldn't go outside due to injections and we didn't want to risk it).
The main issue is that she seems to intentionally hold her toilet until she comes back inside. I have 10 days off work so I am using them to really try and do this toilet training with maximum effort. Today's schedule:
7am: Get up and feed, give water then go for a 90 minute walk instantly. Unfortunately she stepped outside her crate and immediately peed after eating before I could pick her up to take her outside. So tomorrow I will be quicker to go outside after she gets up. However, she did manage to poo on her walk (after about 45 minutes!).
8.30am Come back and home and crate, giving water.
10am Walk outside to encourage pee. I stay out for 20 minutes, she doesn't pee, but immediately pees upon coming back inside.
12pm - Give lunch, crate for 20 minutes. Take outside for 30 minutes - no toilet! Comes back inside...immediate toilet.
In the afternoon, I kept her crated, took her out every 60-90 minutes and all day she wouldn't toilet outside but sometimes would upon coming back inside.
So, with a girl who seems to already believe the house is now her toilet, what else can I do to encourage her to forget that and use the outside for her toilet?
Because of my increased use of the crate today (putting her back in it whenever we came back from a walk and she hadn't pee or poo'd), one time she even peed inside the crate!
She isn't getting it. Is this lack of grasping it normal after 2-3 days?
