so, I’ve tried googling this and i can’t really find the answer I’m looking for, but basically I’m buying a puppy in the near future and the mother weighs about 45 pounds and is 21 inches tall while the father is about 21 pounds 20.5 inches tall, the breeder has explained to me that the father was the runt of the litter and was half the size of his siblings, now what I’m wondering is will my puppy come out smaller than usual because of this? or will the mothers weight balance things out ? If anyone’s had any past experiences with litters like these please help me out with any information or tips.

Wow 21lbs seems very tiny! I have never seen a pure bred husky of that size. If you really want a pure bred Siberian husky I would pass on this breeder? I have two litter mates one being the runt and the difference between my two is ~6 lbs. Not all litters are the same obviously but Idk breeding the runt of a litter seems like a bad idea to me (like why?).

My sister got a "pomsky" from kijiji, the dad was supposedly less than 10 pounds pom and the mom was a full size husky and this "pomsky" is 50 pounds at 1yo... So who knows what you'll end up with. Shocked

the pup could go larger than the dad, but I would question the quality of the breeder. Reputable breeders won't breed anything that is out of standard and that male is grossly out of standard. I would question whether he's even pure despite the claim of being a runt. Even runts can go standard, albeit on the low side often. It also brings into question what medical issues did the dog have that was the cause of the runt problems and are those issues something that will be passed on to the litter.
