I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere.. I have two 6 month old husky sisters and they are a blessing. Separate they are angels, I get compliments for how well behaved they are. But when they are out together they rough house and play fight constantly, it never stops even when they get tired. I hate having to separate them but sometimes they are just too crazy. Any advice?

Aw, they are cute. Do you train them together? You mentioned that you do give them separate time, but how often do they do structured training together? Separate time is very important to avoid littermate syndrome, but they also need structured together time too where they are pressured to mind and do a task. It takes patience and a lot of time commitment to wait them out. If mine get to pestering each other on a walk and not paying attention to the walk I make them run to get them back focused on the movement and not each other.

We also have siblings. I've just chalked it up to "that's the way things are" in regards to rough-housing and fighting. If I think they are going too far, I will stop it with a quick "HEY!" but that lasts for about 30 seconds. Wink I have separated them on occasion, but should be more consistent.

I have heard that huskies play-fight more roughly than other dogs. I do not know if that is true for the breed, but ours seem to battle constantly. It does not seem to phase them. One second they are fighting and another they are laying together, licking each other.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Husky play is NOT for the faint of heart!

While I don't have siblings, my son got his husky mix tjat was 4 months old when my guy was a little over a year. At first, they spent a LOT of time together because son was a field engineer and gone weeks, sometimes, months, at a time. So, they basically grew up together. They still visit several times a week and let me tell you, the play is ferocious. Looks like they are fighting to the death - except for the happy, satisfied looks on their faces as they rage. I can probably count on less than one hand how many times someone actually got hurt - and the "hurt" would be, at most, a tiny scratch in an ear.

Relax, enjoy the antics and when it looks like humans or furniture is at risk, give a big holler and a bit of time out.
